Guardian PACS Data Exchanger

Seamless Data Migration Between Physical Access Control Systems

The Guardian PACS Data Exchanger is designed to facilitate the seamless migration of data from a legacy PACS to a new or replacement PACS system without losing critical user badge and access level details. This feature is particularly valuable during internal consolidations where organizations aim to unify multiple PACS systems under a single, widely used platform. The Guardian PACS Data Exchanger ensures that this transition is smooth, accurate, and swift, significantly reducing the risk of errors and downtime.

Seamless data migration with the AlertEnterprise Guardian PACS Data Exchanger.

Migrating from one physical access control system (PACS) to another can be a daunting task for Corporate Security teams within large enterprises. The challenges of maintaining security, minimizing downtime, and ensuring data integrity are significant. However, the AlertEnterprise Guardian platform offers a robust solution to these challenges with its PACS Data Exchanger feature.

Ditch the time-demanding migration: simplify with smart automation.

Manual migration

Manual migration and data cleanup is costly, time consuming and error prone. It is difficult to be aware of all security, safety and data privacy regulations and then implement them manually.

Manual consolidation gives control to those who may be unfamiliar with complex attributes and data fields present in multiple PACS systems. Automation simplifies consolidation and ensures compliance with built-in industry specific controls.

Key use cases

Main use case: system migration

The primary use case for the Guardian PACS Data Exchanger is the migration of data between PACS systems. This includes user badges, access levels, and historical event data. The tool is essential for organizations undergoing internal consolidation to a single PACS system type, ensuring a seamless transition without data loss.

Intercompany use case: travel and visits

For companies that do not fully utilize PIAM (Physical Identity and Access Management) functionality but still require intercompany travel and visit records, the Guardian PACS Data Exchanger enables the exchange of PACS records on the fly. This ensures that employees and visitors can move between facilities without access issues.

General consolidation

The Guardian PACS Data Exchanger supports ongoing, live data exchanges between multiple PACS systems connected through Guardian, even if these systems do not have a direct connection with each other. This feature ensures continuous data synchronization across different systems.

Data reconciliation & provision process

Main features of the Guardian PACS Data Exchanger

Reconciliation and mapping

The tool can sync existing user records, including names, departments, badge information, photos, access levels, and event histories, with the Guardian PIAM. It uses a standardized data fields model to map and reconcile data from various PACS systems, ensuring compatibility and data integrity.

  • The Guardian Connector Framework allows a mapping of fields & attributes that exist within various PACS systems with a standardized Guardian PIAM data fields model
  • The standardized data fields model can then be used to sync data between previously incompatible PACS systems

Entity:

  • User Data: Identity Profile details
  • Identity System: User’s system specific details
  • User Badge Data: User’s credential/asset/badge details
  • User Role Data: User’s clearance/role details

System Field: a given attribute name in the external system
System Formula: field for custom parameters and formulas
Value Map: field with custom converted or “adapted” AE parameter to map with external system
AE Field: Guardian standardized field value for a given specific entity value in chosen PACS system

The Guardian PACS Data Exchanger allows for filtering of acquired PACS records based on defined parameters such as department, job title, location, and more. This feature is particularly useful when only a subset of data needs to be migrated.

The Guardian PACS Data Exchanger includes error remediation capabilities, allowing for the monitoring and correction of data quality issues during the migration process.

The provisioning framework can push adapted data from the Guardian PIAM to the target PACS system. The entire provisioning process can be monitored through a dedicated screen. Additionally, this function offers a de-provisioning feature to clean up records in the source PACS system once the migration is complete, ensuring data consistency and preventing duplication.

  • The provisioning process can be monitored through a dedicated screen

The De-provisioning (records clean-up) process is performed as a part of a provisioning job (separate parameter that can be enabled or disabled) in the source PACS system following the completion of the migration process
