Alert Enterprise Achieves SailPoint Certified Integration, Extending Identity Governance to Physical Access

Organizations have spent a decade putting identity at the center of digital security. Identity governance programs matured, zero trust made identity the control plane, and certification, lifecycle automation, and audit evidence became standard practice for applications, systems, and cloud.

Physical access has not kept pace. The same identities governed to the entitlement level in the digital world still enter buildings, data centers, and restricted areas on credentials managed outside any governance framework.

Today, Alert Enterprise announces that Alert Enterprise Guardian for SailPoint has achieved SailPoint Certified Integration status. The certified connector extends SailPoint identity governance beyond digital systems into badges, facilities, and physical security infrastructure, enabling organizations to move toward a single governance model for every access point.

01

Why This Matters

Modern enterprises operate in both digital and physical environments. Employees access applications, cloud services, corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, research laboratories, and data centers every day, yet these access rights are typically managed through separate systems, separate teams, and disconnected processes.

The result is a familiar set of gaps:

Digital access is governed under mature, well-established processes. Physical access, in most organizations, is not. The certified integration closes that gap.

02

What Is PIAM, and What Is Unified Identity Governance?

Physical Identity and Access Management (PIAM) is the discipline of managing physical identities, credentials, and facility access through identity-centric governance processes, the same lifecycle, policy, and certification controls long applied to digital access. Where a physical access control system (PACS) decides whether a badge opens a door, PIAM governs whether that person should hold the badge at all. The full architecture is covered in PIAM vs IAM vs PACS.

Unified Identity Governance is what the two disciplines create together: digital and physical access governed through a single identity framework, with consistent lifecycle controls, certifications, and compliance processes across both.

03

What the Certified Integration Delivers

The integration connects SailPoint’s Identity Governance and Administration platform with Alert Enterprise Guardian, the PIAM platform that governs physical identities and access rights. Through the certified connector, SailPoint customers can manage:

All through the same identity-centric governance framework already used for digital access.

Physical access provisioning and deprovisioning follow SailPoint lifecycle events. Facility access aligns with identity status automatically. Certification campaigns and compliance reporting cover both domains from a single evidence base.

04

Why Certified Status Matters

SailPoint connectors carry different levels of assurance. Certified status means the integration has been tested and validated by SailPoint and is published in the SailPoint Connector Directory.

For customers, certification removes the work of building and maintaining a custom integration: deployment is faster, the upgrade path is supported, and the connector is kept current against SailPoint releases.

05

Extending SailPoint Workflows to the Physical World

SailPoint workflows already govern the digital side of every identity event: hires, transfers, terminations, access requests, certifications. The certified integration carries those same workflows through to physical access.

A termination processed in SailPoint deactivates the badge. A transfer adjusts facility access. A certification campaign includes the data center door alongside the ERP entitlement. There is no parallel process to maintain and no second system of record to reconcile.

How lifecycle events flow across both domains is covered in our blog about the joiner-mover-leaver process. How certifications and reviews extend to physical access is covered in our guide for SailPoint customers The market forces behind the convergence are covered in our analysis of the cyber physical security opportunity.

06

Proven With Joint Customers

Bank of America and a growing set of joint customers already run converged cyber-physical security strategies on SailPoint and Guardian. The certification opens that model to SailPoint’s full customer base of more than 3,100 enterprises worldwide, organizations that can now extend existing identity investments into physical environments without building custom integrations.

The certification also reflects where both companies believe identity governance is headed: toward a single framework that governs every identity and every access point, digital and physical alike.
